Grades & Classification
Definição
Ordinary sake that does not meet the criteria for any tokutei meisho-shu (premium) designation. Futsu-shu accounts for approximately 70% of all sake produced in Japan and is the everyday drinking sake for most consumers.
Em Profundidade
Futsu-shu has no minimum polishing requirement and may contain larger amounts of added alcohol, acids, and sugars than premium grades. While the category includes many mass-produced products, some craft brewers produce excellent futsu-shu that rivals premium sake in quality. Futsu-shu is typically the most affordable category and is widely consumed in izakaya, at home, and in cooking. It serves as the base for sake cocktails and is essential for hot sake service at casual establishments.
