Nodogoshi literally translates as 'passing through the throat' and is a distinctly Japanese tasting concept that has no direct equivalent in Western wine vocabulary. Smooth nodogoshi suggests well-integrated alcohol, balanced acidity, and absence of rough tannin-like compounds. Harsh nodogoshi may indicate excessive fusel alcohol, unbalanced acidity, or poor fermentation management.
